If your organization's name is Example, Inc., you could register
the domain name EXAMPLE.COM and your e-mail address could
be user_name@example.com. Your customers would also be able
to access your organization's Web site by visiting "www.example.com"
with their Web browser.

How will NBS Worldwide Notify Me -
We
usually call via telephone or email you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20.
How long will it take to process my registration? -
The
process of registering a domain name is coordinated through
an automated process called an "auto-parser." Once
we have have submitted a complete and correctly formatted
Agreement, your registration request will be processed immediately
and you will be notified via e-mail when processing is complete.
This generally takes less than 24 hours - with some requests
processed in as little as 10 minutes. The time of the last
update to the WHOIS database will be noted on the search results
page.
Following the registration, updates to the Internet's root
name servers are propagated seven days a week at which time
the DNS information for the newly registered name becomes
visible to the DNS system. Domain names processed prior to
7 p.m.
Eastern Time should be accessible on the Internet the next
day assuming that the nameservers listed in the WHOIS database
for that domain have the appropriate DNS records.
InterNIC only controls the domain registration and root zone
server updates. Unfortunately, it may take some time for domain
name updates to propagate throughout the millions of machines
on the Internet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21.
How do I determine the status of my domain name registration
? -
Go
to the WHOIS database and type in the domain name you registered.
If processing is complete, your query will return your domain
name record. If you receive the message: No match for ...
, you should check the next day.
The registration of a new domain name is typically processed
within 24 hours. Upon completion of the domain name registration,
the requestor and technical contact for the primary
name server will receive notification from InterNic, Inc.
Generally new domain name records appear in the WHOIS database
within 24 hours after the Domain Name Registration Agreement
has been processed.
It is possible that your domain name will be visible in the
WHOIS database before your name is visible on the Internet.
For your name to be visible on the Internet, information about
your domain name has to be added to the Internet's zone files,
a global database of information about domain names
that is updated 7 days a week. All registrations completed
before 7:00 p.m. ET will be included in the root server update.
The root zone files are updated 7 days a week. These new domain
name records will be visible in the WHOIS database the following
day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
22.
I have registered a domain name with InterNic. How do I upload
my pages? How do I access my e-mail? -

would like to setup up hosting which is optional please continue
to our Hosting Plans.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
23.
How do I change the DNS information listed as authoritative
for my domain name ? -
Often,
web hosting companies and ISP's will request that you change
the DNS information for your domain name so that they can
manage and make necessary zone file modifications for your
domain name; i.e., connecting your domain name to a web site
they may be hosting for you, or setting your domain name's
mail routing options.
In
the event that your web hosting company or Internet Service
Provider has requested that you change the DNS (Domain Name
Server) information currently listed as authoritative for
your domain name, you will need to make the changes using
one of the following procedures outlined in the paragraphs
below:
For
.com, .net and .org domain names registered through InternicDomainServices.net,
you can use the Domain Modification Form to submit your changes
directly to the registry.Once the information is submitted
to the registry, please allow 24-72 hours (standard Internet
propagation time) for the update to be completed.
The
Domain Modification Form can be accessed at:
http://IntenicDomainServices.com
Modification Form
Login
to the Domain Modification Form then fill out the neccesary
data including the DNS names. You will need to be prepared
with the names of the DNS (Domain Name Servers) that you would
like listed as authoritative for your domain name - information
typically provided by your ISP, web hosting company or network
administrator.fill out all the entries, then enter the name
of the DNS (Domain Name Servers) below in the form which you
intend to have listed as authoritative for your domain name.
Note:
In order to edit the DNS (Domain Name Servers) listed as authoritative
foryour domain name, you will need to have access to the current
email address on file for the domain name to complete a confirmation
process set up to ensure that the requested name server change
is authorized by the current administrator of the domain name.
This confirmation email will be sent to the email address
on file for the domain name.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
24.
My ISP/Hosting Company asked me to have IntenicDomainServices.com
"release"my domain name, What does this mean ? -
When
an ISP or web hosting company tells you that InternicDomainServices.net
needs to "release" your domain name in order for
them to point it to your web site or configure it for email,
this basically means that you (the administrative contact
listed for the domain name) need to change the DNS (Domain
Name Server) information listed as authoritative for your
domain name.
In
the event that your web hosting company or Internet Service
Provider has requested that you change the DNS (Domain Name
Server) information currentlylisted as authoritative for your
domain name, you will need to make the changes using the Domain
Modifications Form listed at:
Modification Form
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
25.
Do I need to change my DNS information if I contract web hosting
from another company? -
Often,
web hosting companies and ISP's will request that you change
the DNS information for your domain name so that they can
manage and make necessary zone file modifications for your
domain name; i.e., connecting your domain name to a web site
they may be hosting for you or setting your domain name's
mail routing options. In this case ask them the information
of the two domain name servers and submit this info via the
Domain Modification Form located at:
Modification Form
Internicdomainservices.com/mod.htm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
26.
How long does it take for changes to my DNS information that
are submitted through the Domain Modification Form to take
effect? -
DNS
changes must be confirmed via a link that is emailed to the
contact email address on file for the domain name. The link
accesses the final step in the confirmation process. Once
this confirmation process is completed, it may take up to
72 hours for your DNS changes to be effective across the Internet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
27.
Do I need two name servers before I can register a domain
name? -
YES!.
The Domain Name Registration Agreement requires that two domain
name servers(a primary and secondary) be listed for each domain
name. These servers, which have both the software and the
data required to resolve domain names to Internet Protocol
(IP) numbers, ensure that the registered domain name may be
contacted over the Internet. Having two(or more) servers ensure
that the domain name is reachable should one name server fail.
We use our names servers for the registration.
DO
NOT arbitrarily list name servers without the prior authorization
of that hosts'maintainer (typically your ISP). Listing the
hostname and IP address of a name server without prior authorization
will make the domain name unreachable through the Internet.
The servers in question will be removed from your domain records
and the domain name will subsequently be deactivated.
